Mother’s Day Self-Care

The past week I have had multiple memories of past Mother’s Day celebrations pop up in my Facebook Memories.  I have been acutely aware of those who no longer have a mother on this earth to celebrate with, those who have not had the privilege of being a mother, those who desperately want to be mother’s and are physically unable to, and those who may not have had the ideal mother.  And yet, we all exist because we had a mother. It is one of those rare uniting things across all cultures, languages, continents.

This week at Aaaah Wellness we are welcoming a new Nurse Practitioner, Julie Hinman! She earned her Master of Science in Nursing in 2014 & Doctor of Nursing Practice in 2016 from The University of Arizona and has practiced family medicine caring for individuals across all ages.

With the Arizona weather improving, most people are ramping up their outdoor pastime activities. Oftentimes jumping back in too fast can cause minor (and sometimes major) injuries. Without awareness of some preventative measures you can take, an injury could set you back weeks and limit your favorite activities.

ALZHEIMER’S – TYPE 3 DIABETES

According to an article from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Alzheimer’s Disease Is Type 3 Diabetes. Brain insulin resistance, oxidative stress, and cognitive impairment are signs of Alzheimer’s Disease that include, “extensive disturbances in brain insulin and insulin-like growth factor (IGF) and could account for the majority of lesions in Alzheimer’s Disease.”
