Functional Medicine

Functional Medicine

Functional medicine is a holistic approach that addresses the root causes of dysfunction and illness. It examines the what, how, and why of conditions, treating the body as an interconnected system. By understanding the body’s complex interactions, functional medicine aims to proactively balance and restore health.

What is Functional Medicine?

Functional medicine is a holistic approach to addressing underlying causes of dysfunction and illness in the body. It focuses on what, how, and why certain conditions manifest in the body and aims to be proactive in mitigating those issues by treating the body as an interconnected, synergistic system. It is constructed on the notion that the human body is a complex system and that these systems are intertwined, talking, and communicating back and forth with each other to balance the body.

How is Functional Medicine different from Conventional Medicine?

Conventional medicine is typically specialty-oriented and is focused on addressing the issue within that particular specialty. For example: endocrinologists, gastroenterologists, and nephrologists. Additionally, conventional medicine does very little to address how and why your symptoms occurred in the first place. Functional medicine looks at the bigger picture. It is focused on what, how, and why this disease manifested and what actions can be taken to ameliorate those issues. Functional medicine is a patient focused, health-oriented, holistic approach to healing and treatment.

Common Dysfunctions, Diseases, and Illness treated by Functional Medicine

Chiropractic care is effective in relieving a wide range of conditions related to the musculoskeletal and nervous systems. Common issues treated by chiropractors include back and neck pain, headaches, joint pain, and muscle stiffness. It is also beneficial for conditions such as herniated discs, sciatica, and sports injuries. By addressing the root causes of pain and dysfunction, chiropractic care helps reduce inflammation, improve mobility, and enhance the overall quality of life. Additionally, regular chiropractic adjustments can help prevent future injuries and maintain optimal health.
